Marriage Is Between One Man And One Woman!

Marriage is the God ordained union of one man and one woman. It is not between two men or two women or any combination of one man and two or more women or one woman and two or more men. All such thoughts are sexually deviant and lewd. That doesn’t mean that men in the Bible did not

have multiple legal wives and even multiple concubines, which is defined as a “ ‘wife’ who is not a legal wife.” 46

Remember our discussion of Jacob who fathered twelve sons from

four women? Two were legal wives and two were maidservants or concubines given to Jacob by his two legal wives. Or what about Solomon who had 700 wives and 300 concubines? Doesn’t that make Solomon a fornicator? For the moment, you’ll have to consider that Solomon had a

commitment from those women to only him for sex and that all of them including the concubines were considered as wives. I wonder who made up those rules? I also wonder what a nut Solomon had to be. Wisdom? To love one woman her whole life is enough of a challenge to me.

I have read where ancient Jewish law permitted up to four wives assuming you could keep them fed, clothed and otherwise satisfied up until one Rabbi altered the law with a ruling that one wife should be enough. Yet

if God intended for us to have multiple sexual partners, why didn’t He provide Adam with multiple wives? Surely He knew the sexual drive of the male would not be satisfied with just one wife? Surely He knew that the sexual drive of the male might even want a male partner? Get real and think

about these Scriptures when it comes to the sacrament of marriage.

“And the Lord God caused a deep sleep to fall on Adam, and he slept; and He took one of his ribs, and closed up the

flesh in its place. Then the rib, which the Lord God had taken from man He made into a woman, and He brought her to the man. And Adam said: ‘This is now bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man.’ ” Genesis 2:21-23
