The latter fits clearly in God’s command to control our sin, while the

former allows sexual pressures to accumulate unabated, which is definitely a lack of exerting any control over the issue. The latter also keeps a door open to an external sinful solution rather than a self-contained moral solution. This is a male issue, but no doubt similar issues are in play in the female

body. A woman’s vagina is also flooded with blood and swells up during REM sleep and no doubt this fact creates similar urges in her body. It’s a fact that 1 Cor. 10:13 seems to fit the scenario in that God “will also make the way to escape [the temptation of sex], that you may be able to bear it.”

The use of the human hand is natural and the same as married couples use on each other. In contrast, sex machines, dildos, vibrators, large plastic dolls and other objects used to masturbate with or on have crossed the line and are externally oriented and lewd behaviors. These behaviors are in the

heart and have resulted in “external” actions. They are not self-contained within one’s self. You say, but Edward, what’s the difference? In one case, it is natural and the mind is exerting some control preventing excess and keeping things self-contained. In the other case, clearly the issue is in the

heart, has resulted in external actions to obtain objects and is unnatural.

While Paul teaches on the natural use of the woman in Rom. 1:26-27, it applies broadly on the use of the sex organs per se and other body parts.

The male and female genitals were meant to engage each another. That is what is natural. It is also natural for couple’s to use their hands and touch one another’s genitals. Therefore, it is not immoral to touch one’s genitals or even to masturbate one’s partner. Yet it would be immoral to stick a

foreign object into the vagina. Likewise, sticking the penis into any foreign object is also immoral. This deals with the issue of being natural and exerting some control over our sexuality in a way that “allows us to escape and to bear the sexual temptations.” However, Matthew 5:30 presents

another perspective from Jesus.

I’ve already talked about this teaching at least once. If a limb offends you, cut it off and that is exactly what Jesus is teaching you. “For it is more

profitable for you that one of your members perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Hell.” This is one solution to an “out of control” body.
