Sexual Pleasure Is A Part of God’s Design!

Perhaps the most confusing church teaching either direct or implied is that our God given gift of sex is somehow bad for us. Secondly, that if we do experience sexual pleasure, it must certainly be sinful. Therefore, at the opposite end of immoral sex and the teaching that all sexual pleasures are

good is the idea that all sexual pleasures are problematic with God. So, let’s examine this area for a while. Is all sexual pleasure bad for us? Should sex be limited to strictly the area of procreation? How did the church and Christianity reach some of its conclusions?

I was musing about the bases of church sexual teachings and found that it isn’t hard to understand why the church is often confused. Consider for a moment some of the ground that we’ve already covered. First, since

sex feels good, all sex must be good for us. That I suspect is the basis of the licentious theology, which incorporates the thoughts that all love is of God and that all sins are truly forgiven. Ergo, for a man to love another man or a woman to love another woman sexually is okay in God’s eyes, because it is

of love first of all and secondly, sins no longer matter to those who accept Christ. Thus, it is easy to understand the sexually perverted apostate church and its sexual freedom logic. However, it has to ignore a lot of God’s Word. In fact, it has to add and subtract and lie about God’s Word as well.

Then there is Lot who was so drunk he didn’t realize he was having sex with his two daughters on two different nights. I can understand how this is possible from a human perspective having spent 7 1/2 years in the

U.S. Navy. I remember several sailors commenting about having a rude awakening. That is, waking up with someone ugly in bed that they had no memory about meeting and hooking up with. It wasn’t a good story in most cases. That is what alcohol, drugs and other substances can do. They can

alter the mind and our human behavior to the point where we no longer are in control. From this illustration, you can imagine all kinds of precursors that the church would find objectionable. I suspect that is why some teach against dancing albeit “there is a time to dance” [Eccles. 3:4]. Ergo, if you don’t go to the party [dance] you won’t get drunk and lose control.
