Will You Tell God You Could Not Control Yourself?

Before I wrote the last chapter, I imagined what the idea of controlling sin might feel like when standing before God. Jesus said we would not have any excuses for our sin, so imagine that you are standing before Christ and his Father, our God. You are asked the question of why you supported

abortion. You protest that you never supported abortion, yet God tells you that you still bear the guilt of others because you failed to reprove abortion, which you knew was evil. How would a moment like that feel like?

Would it feel a little life threatening? It should. Perhaps you are one of those who are “named” a brother or sister in the Lord Jesus Christ who claims the Bible is silent on the issue of abortion, teaches abortion is okay because the life of the fetus is of less value than the mother, or that you took

the word of your pastor that abortion was okay. How will you explain to God that you supported the following evil in His eyes?

1. You supported the shedding of innocent blood.

2. You supported the sacrifice of children. 3. You supported the idea of “love” as being self-centered. 4. You supported apostate verse translations of His Word. 5. You denied His eternal character in your decisions.

6. You denied what He placed in your heart and mind. 7. You chose to be friendly to the world instead of to God. 8. You failed to hate what God Himself considers evil.

Real peace of mind comes from true repentance and this means making a change of behavior. It means you stop doing what God abhors and you start doing what He loves. Remember, He has said clearly that He will “make every person pay for doing what He hates” [Ezekiel 7:3-4]. Listen,

this is a simple thing to understand. If you engage in sexual immorality, you will be thrown into the lake of fire and suffer the second death. It’s His Word! And, your protests about trusting in the name of Jesus will do you no good, since he will simply say: “I never knew you, be gone you who practiced lawlessness.” Remember Jesus said: “Why do you call me Lord
