Now when I say, “do the right thing”— I am telling you not to sin and to do what God will say is right. This “right thing” is given to us in His

Word and in our soft inner voice of conscience. It is always good and not evil. It is not what your neighbor, friend, family or society might believe is right. Regardless of your knowledge of the Bible or overall education, God imparts to everyone’s spirit a sense of what is really right in any given

situation. That is the essence of James 4:17. You can be right with God by simply listening to what your conscience tells you to do. If you are ignorant of the Word, you can get into trouble with God by condoning, causing or enabling what He calls sin. How can you effectively eternalize yourself in

these regards if you are ignorant of His Word? While you study and learn, listen carefully to His righteous laws written on your heart and mind.

My discussion with God didn’t stop at just how to get beyond the minimum standard. It continued into all the woes of the Bible. Isaiah 30:1

states, “Woe to the rebellious children ... that they may add sin to sin.” They continue to sin! Isaiah 45:9 states, “Woe to him who strives with his [her] MAKER!” They argue with God! Jeremiah 23:1 states, “Woe to the [false] shepherds who destroy and scatter the sheep of My pasture.” Ezekiel 13:3

states, “Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!” Ezekiel 34:2 states, “Woe to the shepherds … who feed themselves [and not My flock]!” And, Matthew 23:14 states, “Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites!” Guess what? All of the unrighteous

preachers and teachers cloak secrets, but they are all naked in God’s eyes!

“Woe to you who desire the day of the Lord! For what good is the day of the Lord to you? It will be darkness, and

not light. It will be as though a man fled from a lion, and a bear met him! Or as though he went into the house, leaned his hand on the wall, and a serpent bit him! Is not the day of the Lord darkness, and not light? Is it not very dark,

with no brightness in it?” Amos 5:18-20

“Woe to him [her] who gives drink to his [her] neighbor [friend, family, etc.], pressing him [her] to your bottle, even

to make him [her] drunk that you may look on his [her] nakedness [and have sex with them]!” Habakkuk 2:15
