Chapter 19: Myth—Sexuality Doesn’t Matter

God Created Us Naked, Sexual & Holy!

“And they were both naked, the man and his wife, and were not ashamed.” Genesis 2:25

In the beginning we stood before God naked without shame. In fact,

our nakedness did not interfere with our holiness. Only after Eve’s sin did we feel shame. The shame came from the evil side of human sexuality and not from the good side. We were designed as naked, sexual and holy beings. Even today, with our clothes on, we still stand before God naked!

“And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.” Hebrews 4:13

How wonderfully free it must have been in the beginning for Adam and Eve. Having been created naked, sexual and holy — I conclude that there is nothing sinful about our naked body per se. For example, it was not

a sin for Adam to look at Eve’s naked body and vice versa. Note that being totally naked that every physical aspect of the human body was exposed for examination and curiosity without any concern about sin. However, God later established some rules, which defined the nakedness of kin as it relates

to sexual immorality. Consider His rules on uncovering nakedness of kin.

Don’t Uncover The Nakedness Of Kin!

“None of you shall approach anyone who is near of kin to

him, to uncover his [or her] nakedness: I am the Lord.

[7] The nakedness of your father or the nakedness of your mother you shall not uncover. She is your mother; you shall

not uncover her nakedness.

[8] The nakedness of your father’s wife you shall not uncover; it is your father’s nakedness.
