I’ve already mentioned that the word licentious or licentiousness is not used in the King James Version and that is the text used for Strong’S Concordance. Also, that other translations use these words instead of lewd

or lewdness. It is useful to reflect on Strong’S because it takes you back to a more innocent time when the language was not twisted to deceive people.

The Merriam-Webster 24 dictionary definition of lewd is “sexually

unchaste or licentious.” This modern dictionary therefore confirms the interchangeability of the words lewd and licentious. Unchaste is defined as lacking in chastity, which is defined as abstaining from unlawful sexual intercourse. Chastity also means having purity in heart or intent [in regards

to sexual activity]. Licentious means the lacking of any moral restraint or disregarding restraints when it comes to sexual behavior. The anything goes and free sex mentality that emerged in the late 1960’s and early 1970’s in the United States typifies what it is to be lewd in God’s eyes. Apostle Paul

makes it clear that those who are lewd do not inherit the kingdom of God. Therefore, the words lewd and licentious both define part of what God terms “sexually immoral,” which qualifies for the lake of fire and second death.

“Now the works of the flesh are evident, which are: adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lewdness, idolatry, sorcery, hatred, contentions, jealousies, outbursts of wrath, selfish ambitions, dissensions, heresies, envy, murders, drunkenness, revelries,

and the like; of which I tell you beforehand, just as I also told you in time past, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Galatians 5:19-21
