What will keep you safely in the path of sexual morality with God? It

is the top virtue of wisdom called reason. Go back and study chapter 9 until you understand why godly reason is important to your eternal life. You cannot be rational on this earth without God and this attribute, which is possessed by those who love and fear Him. Without this spiritual quality,

you reason from a secular and morally debased position ignoring the fact that God does exist. This won’t help you from an eternal perspective even though it may sooth your mind over the sexual immorality you are engaged in. But when you have God’s wisdom, reason becomes sovereign over your

emotions causing you to obey what God has commanded. Then you can understand what I’ve written concerning rational judgment on p238.

“When you exercise rational judgment, your reason will put into check your emotions. Then, your reason is sovereign over your emotions.

With understanding and wisdom from God, you reason that God’s Law:

1. Prevails even over the affection for parents, so that virtue is not abandoned for their sakes. 4 Mac 2:10

2. Is superior to love for one’s wife, so that one rebukes her when she breaks the law. 4 Mac 2:11 3. Takes precedence over love for children, so that one punishes them for misdeeds. 4 Mac 2:12

4. Is sovereign over the relationship of friends, so that one rebukes friends when they act wickedly. 4 Mac 2:13” And, God’s Law 5. Is sovereign over human sexual behavior unless one chooses to be “sexually immoral” and by such behavior the lake of fire and its

second death as judgment. Rev. 21:8, 22:15

Reason is the gatekeeper to your heart. It only allows in what is truly in the core of your soul and being. If that is sexual immorality, then sexual

immorality, which is evil, will reign in your heart. If your reason is that of God’s wisdom, then it stops sexual immorality and other evil from going in and out of your heart. It is the guard that says no to anything that will cause you to sin. It functions that way because His Spirit informs you when sin is

present or will be forthcoming. It is a spiritual gift of fear that God imparts to all who walk with Him to remind us of our eternal life or death.
