Chapter 19: Myth—Sexuality Doesn’t Matter

I purchased dinner and sat down. We began to talk. She was easy for

me to have a conversation with and time passed too quickly. Before we noticed, no one else was in the restaurant and they were mopping the floor. She asked the worker if they were trying to close. Over three hours had passed and it seemed like fifteen minutes to me. We left and parted ways. I

gave her the first seventeen chapters of the book to read and give me feedback. I had noticed that she had the same type of personality that I have and might even scare a few men. For me, however, it was very attractive.

During our meeting, I marveled at her beauty both external and internal and listened intently as she spoke. God allowed me to look deep into her soul and heart. The warm fuzzy that God had given me at our Bible study had blossomed into an incredibly deep spiritual understanding. I began to say yes to whatever God was planning. I offered my friendship and

told her I would be there if she needed me. Eventually I broke the news telling her that I felt the two of us were meant to spend our lives together, because of what God told me. Of course, she was flabbergasted. Anyone would be, wouldn’t they? Still, we continued to talk and I believe we could

have talked all night long. It was something I only experienced with Jackie and I knew that whatever the outcome, this was a special woman in my eyes.

Quite early along in the conversation, she confessed that due to

medical problems she had a hysterectomy. Without knowing it, I was struck by her candor and wondered if God had nudged her conversation. What was the number one concern on my mind suddenly no longer existed. As we continued to talk, I found out that she was systematically getting rid of

things and simplifying her life. She was giving a lot of things away and admitted when her dog died that she wouldn’t get another. I had come to the same conclusion since dog ownership would hinder traveling. Both of us expressed a love for our old “puppies” and a desire to care for them until

God takes them to their next life. I asked her why she was doing what she was doing. She said she didn’t know why, but only that God had asked her to get ready. Get ready for what? She didn’t know. At some point she said she had no plans to come back to Minnesota, but then quickly added that if

God asked her to “I’d do it in a heartbeat.” I left that night in awe and wondering what might happen in the future for both of us.
