Clearly God has commanded us to have sex in a moral way. That is

evidenced in many verses. So, it is clear that males in general were meant to mate with a female and that sex was to be a regular part of their lives. I used to joke with Jackie and tell her that on the days we had sex, I felt my life was extended by one day and on the days we did not have sex, I felt my life was

shortened by two days. Something inherently in my body has always told me and confirmed that sex was good. The pleasurable aspects of human sexuality cannot be denied by theologies that ignore God’s body designs.

“So husbands ought to love their own wives as their own

bodies; he who loves his wife loves himself.” Ephes. 5:28

“Nevertheless, because of sexual immorality, let each man have his own wife, and let each woman have her own

husband. Let the husband render to his wife the affection due her, and likewise also the wife to her husband. The wife does not have authority over her own body, but the husband does. And likewise the husband does not have authority

over his own body, but the wife does. Do not deprive one another except with consent for a time that you may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again so that Satan does not tempt you because of your lack of

self-control.” 1 Cor. 7:2-5

There would be a whole lot more sexual activity if married couples realized they had authority over each other’s body. If they realized there

were health benefits to married sex, they would not get so easily dissuaded from their duty to have sex with one another by the pressures of life. Paul also teaches that having sex is part of the control of sin. If married sex falls in this category of sin control — masturbation must also fall there.

“No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the

temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” 1 Cor. 10:13
