Myth—God Owns Solid Rock
I concluded that I would just keep my mouth shut. However, when
asked if there was anyone else who wanted to speak, I experienced one of those weird moments with God. The last call to speak sounded like an auctioneer in slow motion to me. Does anyone else want to speak, going once, going twice, anyone? Just then I was unexpectedly and physically
ejected out of my pew seat. It felt like two angels had grabbed me by my arms. As they lifted me up, one raised my right hand high up into the air. Before I could figure out what was happening, I heard Matthews say that I wanted to speak. I did? I looked around, but I was alone. The nearest body
was at least thirty feet away. I went down to speak after it obviously looked like I had volunteered. I did explain why the name should be changed and what God had told me. However, what took place in the pew that night was so weird I immediately wrote down the following note in my diary about the event. I just could not believe it. God had manifested something physical in
my life. It would not be the last time.
I didn’t realize the significance of that moment. However, God had made a mental and physical record of the meeting that night in my mind and
in my diary. Alongside the memo I wrote above, I attached a copy of the only article change the church authorized that day. The members only voted to change the name and God wanted to give me a strong record of the event. I have a daily diary that goes back almost three decades. I track daily
events, create a record of actions and make notes in my combination diary and planner. Sometimes I look back and cannot decipher my handwriting, but the note above is crystal clear to me.
I became a member of the church two weeks after the name change. I also gave away ownership of everything I owned at that time. It was a spiritual milestone in my life. I chose stewardship over ownership.
