Myth—God Owns Solid Rock

list by any means. The shock that many in the church would not stand up for God and tell the truth about the theft of Solid Rock Church was one surprise. Yet it did not come close to the shock I received from civil authorities and outsiders that could help, but also chose to ignore the crime.

To understand why civil authorities would also turn their backs, I have to go back to a meeting I had with an IRS manager. I was summoned to the IRS to tell them everything I knew about Solid Rock Church. The church

was in trouble with some taxes and I do not know how it came to be that they called me in. I was struck by the comment of an IRS manager who told me that if you wanted to be a thief, the best thing to do was to start a church. Yes, that’s right. He went on to explain that in order for them to take action against a church, they have to first go before a judge and prove their entire

case. Of course, this gets to be a Catch 22 since they are denied access to the information they need right off the bat. Very interesting. Huh?

When I informed the state attorney general’s office, they refused to

take action because of “budget constraints.” A swindler steals a church and its property worth an estimated $6 million [or more] and the state has budget concerns? That doesn’t say much for public officials charged with dealing with crime. I received the same reactions from other civil authorities that

would prefer the matter just go away. My guess is that Matthews knew of these kinds of church and public reactions from his prior experiences. That is why I think he believed he could actually get away with his theft. Yet, again I ask, has he really gotten away with his crime? Stealing from God?
