Myth—God Owns Solid Rock

Matthews eventually manipulated the church into becoming an AFCM

affiliated church. This is known as a Word of Faith church [WOF]. I will explain it shortly. For now, however, let me discuss a church illusion that is often presented to Christians. Do you remember that Satan masquerades as an angel of light and his servants as righteous ministers? If not, go back to

the opening page of this chapter and study those verses. What does this mean? It means you can literally be in a church that you think is with God and is righteous, yet actually be in a den of thieves. Jesus said that you would know them by their fruits. Don’t rely on just what comes out of the

minister’s mouth, as it is supposed to appear very sound and righteous. No, instead, you must also look at what is happening. Step back for some clarity and objectivity to see the whole picture [forest v. trees]. Do not get so close to your pastor that you cannot see what is happening. If you are myopic in your spiritual vision you will operate, as Satan wants. He knows you won’t

see what is really going on because you are too close and your focus is way too narrow. As I moved to each new church, I had a feeling I was somehow getting closer to God. Was I? Let’s look at the issue of church types with some graphic illustrations. My church path is shown in this first graphic.
