who is weeping because he has not seen you for many a day.” Pinocchio responds, “Tomorrow my father will be a rich man, for these four gold

pieces will become two thousand.” The Cricket cautions with the following: “Don’t listen to those who promise you wealth overnight, my boy. As a rule they are either fools or swindlers! Listen to me and go home.” The talking Cricket knows that bad and evil company will corrupt good character. It

makes him smarter than many Christians who fellowship with such people.

“Do not be misled: Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33 NIV

Isn’t the wealth pitch to Pinocchio similar to that from a preacher who says your offering will get you a 30, 60 or 100 fold return from God? That is a very good return on investment at a time when a bank savings account deposit might only bring you 1-2% annual interest. We all know the trouble

Pinocchio got into by believing in a path to easy wealth and riches. Verily I say to you that many Christians are just as clueless on a similar fake path.

“[There are] men of corrupt mind[s], who have been robbed

of the truth and who think that godliness is a means to financial gain.” 1 Timothy 6:3-5 NIV

I witnessed the same delusion of the storybook character Pinocchio in

Christians who attended Word of Faith churches. Zone 3 churches also feed men and women exactly what their itching ears want to hear. What could be more enticing to itching ears than the promise of easy wealth and riches? William Neal Matthews once taught: “Who knows which offering God will

bless this day? You need to give something into every offering.” I placed money into four separate offerings that day at Solid Rock Church. Indeed, I was programmed to respond in the manner this pastor wanted me to. Are you also programmed in a similar manner with Zone 3 mythology?

After I gave my heart to God, I left an apostate church that was not faithful to the word of God. I traveled through Bible based orthodox trinity churches and ended up in a Word of Faith trinity church. The WOF church

fed my emotions and cleverly hid its apostate messages. Such was the path of my church travels as I attempted to get closer and closer to my God.
