Note this warning in Revelation 2:4 to the church of Ephesus. “Yet I hold this against you: You have forsaken your first love. Remember the height from which you have fallen! Repent and do the things you did at first. If you do not repent, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place.” Rev. 2:4-5 NIV Exactly whom is the “first love” talked about in this warning to the church at Ephesus? Can there be any first love other than that of Yahweh [God]? No, there cannot be any other. And, that includes God’s human begotten Son Jesus Christ. There are many Christians today who have forsaken the first love of God Almighty. They are so focused on Christ; they forget that Christ came to bring us back to our first love, which is God. What is the penalty for failing to return to our first love? It is the taking away of our lampstand. In plain English, it is the erasing of our name from the Book of Life. It gets back to the first commandment. Thou shall have no other gods before me; I am a jealous God, etc.; this includes Jesus.
