When you understand that Jesus spoke of a “spiritual oneness” when

he said “I and the Father are one” — you can understand what he meant when he said the following.

“But he answered and said to them, ‘my mother and my

brothers are these who hear the word of God and do it.’ ” Luke 8:21

Jesus said he would be your brother if you “hear the word of God and

do it.” Can you grasp the reality of the spiritual oneness that is being offered to you by God through Jesus? All it takes is obedience to the word of God.

Jesus Is Your Brother Only If You Obey God!

I don’t want to leave you hanging on the issue of those words. The reason that the words “Him, him, Me, me, My, my, Your, your, One, and

one” can be confusing in Scripture is that the capitalized version implies it is God. Quite frankly, it isn’t always that way in Scripture and the use of caps adds confusion into the reading of some Scripture. Luke 8:21, is a good example where the sentence can be cleaned up and the understanding

enhanced by reading it as follows. Note fathers are absent in this teaching.

“But Jesus answered and said to them, ‘my mother, my brothers and my sisters are these who hear the word of God and do it.’ ” Luke 8:21 [Apostle Edward’s understanding]

Jesus Is One With God, He’s Just Not God!

This ends a very detailed discussion of the many ways in which man rationalizes the trinity doctrine. It is not meant to be complete as there is no limit to the rationalization of mankind when it comes to the trinity doctrine.

However, no trinity rationalization can stand up against God’s Holy Word.
