“No one can come to me unless the Father who sent me

draws him; and I will raise him up at the last day.”

“It is written in the prophets, ‘and they shall all be taught by God.’ Therefore everyone who has heard and learned

from the Father comes to me.” John 6:44-45

What might seem like some cryptic verses are simply telling you that if you know God already, you will recognize and know Jesus Christ as the

human begotten Son of God. In many respects it is like bumping into a familiar person at any store. You don’t recognize the person completely but you know he or she resembles someone you know. You walk up and ask the simple question, are you related to so and so? You look familiar.

Jesus made it clear that those who walked with God would recognize that he was there representing God and indeed was God’s Son. Jesus also makes it clear that only those whom the Father draws spiritually can come to Jesus for salvation. Indeed, it is not Jesus who is in control; it is God

Almighty the Father. Jesus makes it abundantly clear he exists to do the Father’s will. The statement of the prophets that all of us shall be taught by God recognizes that God has placed his instructions on everyone’s hearts and mind. This is the essence of the new covenant that Jeremiah spoke of.

It is those who are listening to God that seek Jesus out. When you listen to the instructions that God has provided, you understand spiritual matters. You also behave well knowing that God holds us accountable. God

taught us through the prophet Jeremiah …

“Behold, the days are coming, says the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the

house of Judah—not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt, My covenant which they broke, though I was a husband to them, says the Lord.”
