Commentary: The “Alpha and the Omega” will also be covered further and in depth later on in this chapter. However, for now, this verse does not provide any direct support for the trinity doctrine. In fact, the verse speaks only of a single entity or person, not three.

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and keep back part of the price of the land for yourself? While it remained, was it not your own? And after it was sold, was it not in your own control? Why

have you conceived this thing in your heart? You have not lied to men but to God.” Acts 5:3-4

Commentary: Lying to the Holy Spirit is lying to God because it is God’s Holy Spirit that we are talking about. Jesus said in John 15:26, “But when the Helper comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the

Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, he will testify of me.” Therefore, the Spirit of truth [Holy Spirit] proceeds forth “from the Father.” Indeed, the Spirit of truth is one of seven Spirits that belong to God Almighty.

“When he had been baptized, Jesus came up immediately from the water; and behold, the heavens were opened to him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove

and alighting upon him.” Matthew 3:16
