If “Jesus is talking to himself on the cross” seems offensive to you,

think about this question. What if Jesus talked and sounded like William Jefferson Clinton? Would Jesus parse the simple words like this infamous lawyer did? In other words, would Jesus use simple words in such a manner and speak in such a clever way to actually deceive the people into believing

something that were not true? Well, to rationalize the salvation doctrine of the above denominations, a comma has to be shifted in Luke 23:43.

Think about this. Jesus says “Assuredly, I say to you, TODAY you

will be with me in Paradise.” The words are clear enough. Jesus is telling the thief that he would be with Jesus in Paradise that very day! Whoops. Nobody goes to Heaven yet according to the present doctrine. Sounds like the statement of Jesus interferes with the doctrine of these churches? Of course, the only thing to do is to rationalize around Luke’s statement. In this

case, it is the comma that is the real problem. Yes, that comma was simply placed in the wrong spot by the translators. I might add it was placed in the wrong spot multiple times by multiple translation teams and that they all got it wrong. Since nobody gets into Heaven until after Jesus comes back, the

verse is really suppose to read as follows.12

“And Jesus said to him, ‘Assuredly, I say to you today, you will be with me in Paradise.’ ” Luke 23:43 [Comma moved.]

Note that the comma is moved to the opposite side of the word “today” in the above view. Thus the new meaning is “I’m telling you that sometime in the future eons of time that you will be with me in Paradise.”

Get the drift? The people who postulate this comma shift now expect you to believe that Jesus would mislead people like William Jefferson Clinton did! Is this the Jesus you know? It is not the Jesus I know. Jesus wouldn’t offer needless hope to the thief in such a manner. He had no reason to. If he

wanted, Jesus could have simply said: “Don’t worry, someday you will be with me in Paradise. For the moment though, you will have to rest in the ground for a while. I don’t know when I will return for you, but not to worry, I will come back sometime.” Wow. This rationalization of Scripture

leads to incredible apostasy and back to Scorsese’s stupid Jesus.
