[20] At that day you will know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. He who has my commandments

and keeps them, it is he who loves me. And he who loves me will be loved by my Father, and I will love him and manifest myself to him. Judas (not Iscariot) said to him, ‘Lord, how is it that you will manifest yourself to us, and

not to the world?’ [23] Jesus answered and said to him, ‘If anyone loves me, he will keep my word; and my Father will love him, and WE will come to him and make OUR home with him [or her].” John 14:15-23

Commentary: Again, in verse 16 Jesus makes it clear that God will provide His Spirit of truth to us. “I [Jesus] will pray [to] the Father, and

He [God] will give you another Helper [Spirit of truth].” Note also verse 20. Jesus is in the Father and we are in Jesus and Jesus is in us. And in verse 23, both God and Jesus will come to live within us. Does the fact that we are one with God and Jesus also make us God Almighty? No. It is a

spiritual metaphor meaning we are one in the Spirit. Same thing with Jesus when he said: “I and my Father are one.” It didn’t make him God and it doesn’t make us God. However, it does make us like gods.

Jesus answered them, “Many good works I have shown you from my Father. For which of those works do you stone me?” [33] The Jews answered him, saying, “For a good work we do not stone you, but for blasphemy, and because you, being a man, make yourself God.” [34] Jesus

answered them, “Is it not written in your law, ‘I said, you are gods?’ ”

[35] If He called them gods, to whom the word of God came (and the Scripture cannot be broken), [36] do you say of him whom the Father

sanctified and sent into the world, ‘you are blaspheming,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God?’ [37] If I do not do the works of my Father, do not believe me; [38] but if I do, though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in me, and I in

Him.” John 10:32-38
