Myth—Abortion Doesn’t Matter

There Is A Time To Hate! Eccles. 3:8

Fast forward 18 years from now and ask yourself how the child of the

34-year old Manhattan woman who aborted his twin siblings will feel when he finds out the truth of her actions. Will he feel that his mother truly loved him or that he was just the lucky fetus? What if his mother had wanted two? Would she have chosen the twins over him? Now think about a child whose

mother carried to term and then gave up to adoption. He was told his mother chose to give him life because of her love, but was unable to raise him as her own child. Perhaps these young men will meet in college and compare their mother’s love someday. Who will say their mother had the greatest love?

The selfish interests of one woman were interrupted by the reality of three babies and a future lifestyle different than what she had planned. She hated the idea of a life focused on motherhood and three children.

Childbirth is not the time for anyone to hate; it is a time to rejoice over “the children whom God has graciously given.” However, there is a time to hate and God’s Word makes that fact abundantly clear. You should hate what God hates. He hates the shedding of innocent blood and the

killing of children either in the womb or out of the womb. No one can deny the clear Bible references that prohibit abortion unless they are among those who Jesus does not know. Do you know God’s Son? If you do, you should also know God and that He expects us to hate all forms of evil.

My friend Dean said: “It’s a paradox. You are actually loving when you hate what God hates.” Indeed, love should be genuine and part of that genuine love is to hate what is evil and to hold fast to what is good.

“Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold fast to what is good.” Romans 12:9 NRSV
