Myth—Abortion Doesn’t Matter
God’s illustration in 1 Kings 3 shows a woman who would rather give
up her child to another woman than see that child be killed. Solomon demonstrates wisdom by offering to cut this baby into two pieces and give each woman who claims the baby one-half. However, the true mother then steps forward and offers to give the child to the other woman rather than see
that child be killed. God’s Word says: “Compassion for her son [baby] burned within her.” Don’t sacrifice your baby!
Last week a headline 32 read: “Doctors Struggle To Help Tiny Baby.”
In yet another illustration of life from God, an 11-ounce baby boy was born very prematurely at 23 weeks. “Born in Hutchinson, a team from Children’s Hospital and Clinics was there to help keep Gabriel alive.” He weighed less than a 12-ounce can of Pepsi or Coke and was physically smaller in size, yet after five weeks and 1 pound 9 ounces he has almost doubled his weight.
Gabriel’s mother says: “Oh my God, he’s so little. I was trying to think of an angel, so I picked the name Gabriel because it means messenger of God. He’s here for a reason, he’s got a point to make and so far we’ve been lucky and grateful with Gabriel and he’s been doing well.” Gabriel is taking
Neonatology to another new level because of his 11-ounce birth.
The joy I observed in Gabriel’s mother’s eyes while watching the news story is the joy I saw in Jackie’s eyes after she gave birth to our own
children. Even with the trauma of an early birth, one can observe the love in a mother’s eyes for her baby. It is the God given mother’s love that we are witnessing. It bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things and endures all things for her baby. We shouldn’t question the joy of a woman
who has just given birth even under traumatic conditions for her joy is God given and normal. Instead, we should question why any woman would give up her baby without the fight of her life. That is an abnormal response. It is not a God given response; it is a manmade-programmed lifestyle response.
It is not God friendly; it is world friendly.
“When a woman is in labor, she has pain, because her hour has come. But when her child is born, she no longer
remembers the anguish because of the joy of having brought a human being into the world.” John 16:21 NRSV
