Myth—Abortion Doesn’t Matter

Therefore, if you worried about the evil or mean spirited thought that

occasionally surfaced in your mind, you could literally go nuts. Take responsibility for your own mental thoughts, but do not believe for a moment that only your thoughts will enter your head.

I’ve heard many public speakers assert that mankind is inherently good. I would basically agree since we are created in God’s image. However, God makes it clear that the human heart is “inclined” towards evil from youth. Jesus already taught you evil intentions [action] springs forth

out of what is in the heart of man [Mark 7:21-23].

Inclination Of The Human Heart Is Evil!

“And when the Lord smelled the pleasing odor, the Lord

said in His heart, ‘I will never again curse the ground because of humankind, for the inclination of the human heart is evil from youth; nor will I ever again destroy every living creature as I have done.’ ” Genesis 8:21 NRSV

When the Founding Fathers of the United States formed the U.S. Constitution they took into account this very biblical fact. They knew of man’s inclination towards evil and especially when given “political power.”

I’ll talk more about the issue of politics in chapter 20.

Now since God has made it clear our hearts are inclined towards evil, is it any wonder why He would want to hold you accountable to reprove

your sinful neighbor, friend or family member? God knows we needed the help of everyone around us to keep us on a godly path in our life. That is why tight knit communities and families work well. That is the way it was when I roamed Plymouth Avenue in Minneapolis as a budding teenager in

1959. Any young person who thought of getting into mischief was a target of the reprove of any observing adult in the vicinity in those days. We did not live in a society that simply “let you do your own thing” when what you were doing was wrong or evil. Today, if a reprove takes place to correct a child’s bad behavior, the reprover might then become the target of a lawsuit.
