Do Not Be Yoked Together With Unbelievers!

“When you come into the land which the Lord your God is giving you, you shall not learn to follow the abominations of those nations.” Deut. 18:9

“You shall not intermarry with them, nor they with you. Surely they will turn away your hearts after their gods.” 1 Kings 11:2

Solomon did not follow God’s instructions and eventually his heart was turned away from the Lord. In return, God removed His blessings on Solomon’s government. This isn’t complicated stuff. It is simply human nature. If a culture is raised to worship idols, it will take generations to alter

and dilute that evil behavior. When America’s emphasis was on being a godly nation and a melting pot, wherein immigrants adopted the basic mores of Christianity—we seemed to prosper. But the nation changed when the Supreme Court decided it was wrong to talk about God in public schools.

Only an Amendment to the U.S. Constitution can repair the breach in morals of this country. We as a nation now find ourselves yoked together “within” to immoral people and even immoral Christians who feign an understanding of God. With our religious freedom, no immigrant is required to become a

Christian. We do not have a national religion. However, the Holy Bible is the foundation of our nation’s mores, legal system and also our government operations. Because the founders knew there were evil people, they knew we had to have a moral standard and the standard they chose was the Bible.

“Do not be unequally yoked together with unbelievers. For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness? And what communion has light with darkness?” 2 Cor. 6:14

Today it seems like everyone is doing his or her own thing. The national and common interests we have as a people of God are routinely dismissed in favor of selfish personal and even pagan interests. There is nothing new here as Paul chastised some followers for selfish and ungodly

behavior.
