Another problematic policy idea is to tax corporations. The majority of corporations are simply small businesses. Many of these businesses are

not flush with cash and the owners work long hours just for the privilege of working for themselves. As an entrepreneur with almost forty years of experience I can vouch for that. I was also the president of the Minnesota Entrepreneurs and I am well versed in these issues. The fundamental fact

that belies the demagoguery on this issue is that corporations do not pay taxes — they simply collect taxes. Any tax levied against a corporation is just passed down and is reflected into the price of everything they sell or service. Therefore, in the most honest analysis, corporate taxes are simply

hidden consumer taxes. Yes, consumers pay all corporate taxes one way or another. The most reasonable corporate tax would just cover government expenses of administering corporations from a legal perspective.

The Republicans want government out of our lives for the most part.

They want to empower the individual as much as possible realizing that an empowered individual society is what has always made us a great people. The government should eliminate the obstacles holding back the people so that we can all have an equal opportunity to rise to the level of success that

we choose. However, when the government tries to achieve equal results for people, they step on immoral ground. That is because to guarantee a better result for some people inherently means guaranteeing a worse result for other people. Affirmative action is a classic example where quotas and

preferences are now having the effect of “reverse discrimination.”

People might now view Republicans as a moral party and Democrats as an immoral party. Yet is it that simple? I saw what a third party would

look like when Jesse Ventura was elected as governor of Minnesota. What Minnesotans got from the “Reform Party” was immoral social policies and moral fiscal policies, a compromise between the two major parties. Many are dissatisfied with compromises over values made in both of the major

parties. That has led to the Reform, Green and Constitutional Party plus others. Fiscal hawks with loose morals are gathering in the Reform Party. Christian moral hawks are gathering in the Constitutional Party and radical environmentalists are gathering in the Green. People in both major parties

are threatening to leave and support another party. So, even the political parties are constantly changing in the United States. Politics does matter!
