Biblical Morality = Assistance + Tough Love!

Throughout history there have been individuals who would not lift a

finger to help themselves. They sponged off of society and played on the conscience of socially concerned people who confused “moral rights” with morality and compassion. True compassion is embedded in the words of Apostle Paul who clearly expected that those who could contribute would do

so. The Bible combines tough love and help for those who sincerely need it with a policy of holding able bodied people accountable to contribute labor.

“For even when we were with you, we commanded you this:

If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat.” 2 Thess. 3:10

When people are unwilling to help themselves, tough love is required to deal with the situation. The government is best left out of these areas, as

spiritual problems are the root cause. Ministries such as Sharing & Caring Hands, Gospel Mission, Salvation Army, etc. are best equipped to help such people. They understand tough love is the only way to lift such people out of their existing miserable life. That is why channeling funds to religious

groups make sense. These foot soldiers know how to get the people saved, even from their own desire to destroy themselves. Would you give the homeless drunk money to buy a bottle of booze? No. If you have a guilty conscience, you should give to the charitable organizations shown above and

refer people in misery to them and others like them. You can also give the homeless a car ride down to these places that can really help. Don’t try to “buy” a clear conscience. Not even with tax dollars! Isn’t that what social Christians do when they support Democratic “morality of rights” programs?

Do “moral rights” become needed when a family does not want to take care of its own? What would God think of moral rights policies? He would ask, “Why we you not taking care of your own family members?’

The Democrats have led us down a path of immoral policies, which are now threatening the very foundation of our great nation. Today the “morality of rights” is a euphemism masquerading as “morality.” But morality is only found and derived from one place, the Bible. It is God’s gift to mankind just like He gave mankind the gift of sex and the gift of marriage. To quote

Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, “Moral values don’t change!” 14
