Chapter 20: Myth—Politics Doesn’t Matter

You might scoff at the notion that divorce is immoral, but God says
that He “hates divorce.” Why? The Word says it leads to ungodly children. In other words, single parenting leads to ungodly children. Think about His perspective and then reflect on proper public policy. Should there be “easy” divorce procedures like the so-called no fault divorce? Or, should there be a
tougher stance forcing counseling to keep marriages together?
“But did He not make them one, having a remnant of the Spirit? And why one? He seeks godly offspring. Therefore take heed to your spirit, and let none deal treacherously with
the wife of his youth. ‘For the Lord God of Israel says that He hates divorce, for it covers one’s garment with violence,’ says the Lord of hosts. ‘Therefore take heed to your spirit, that you do not deal treacherously.’ ” Malachi 2:15-16
Jesus said to them, “Moses, because of the hardness of your hearts, permitted you to divorce your wives, but from the beginning it was not [to be] so. And I say to you, [that]
whoever divorces his wife, except for sexual immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and whoever marries her who is divorced commits adultery.” Matthew 19:8-9
Paul taught, “Now to the married I command, yet not I but the Lord: A wife is not to depart from her husband. But even if she does depart, let her remain unmarried or be reconciled to her husband. And a husband is not to divorce
his wife.” 1 Cor. 7:10-11
Therefore, the Bible is clear that divorce should not be an option for God’s people. It is also true that God gave man and woman the ONENESS
having a remnant of His Spirit for purposes of godly children. Remember the admonition in the last chapter about letting the “breasts of the wife of your youth satisfy you?” I know that many so-called Christians will go nuts over the above tables. That is why I offer these teachings on divorce to you.
If you cannot get your heart wrapped around His teaching on divorce, don’t bother to try to understand the other items; you don’t have a pure heart!
