Yesterday was November 25 and Thanksgiving 2004. Washington’s message is one that characterizes our Nation’s founding as firmly imbedded in Christianity and godly behavior. This proclamation should be taught throughout our schools and imbedded into the consciousness of our society.

Yet we clearly have to then recognize our godly heritage. Today, there is a lot of revisionist history makers in society that seek to deny the United State’s moral foundation. Verily I say unto you that the founders of our great nation were not hypocrites that feigned moral behavior with God,

which is all too common today in the men and women of politics. The founders were genuine believers in God and His human Son Jesus Christ.

The lessons in Washington’s Proclamation are many. Consider that

both of the houses of Congress were moral and passed a joint resolution requesting the country’s moral President take action. Consider the following statements of governmental doctrine from the first President of our country.

1. Nations have a duty to acknowledge the providence of God. 2. Nations have a duty to obey His will. 3. Nations have a duty to be grateful for His benefits. 4. Nations have a duty to humbly implore His protection and favor.

5. All people should observe Thanksgiving with a grateful heart for the many and signal favors of Almighty God. 6. All people should be especially grateful that God allowed us to establish peaceably a form of government for their safety and

happiness. 7. Thanksgiving is a time for the people to thank God Almighty!

For two centuries our schools were free to teach the heritage of our

great nation. Morality was automatically taught as our children learned U.S. History and the struggles of our Founding Fathers and the trust that they held in God. The U.S. Constitution, Declaration of Independence, Washington and other Presidential writings such as Lincoln’s speeches were laced with respect and humility towards God. Eliminating God from public schools has

created a debased society and one that is now heavily ignorant of the divine Providence of our nation’s beginning. Historical ignorance is so replete that many named Christians will also argue that the nation was not founded on Christianity and biblical morals. We used to be a nation of “godly” laws!
