Myth—God Heals Everyone

I remember the last time I visited with her. She explained how much pain

she was in and I told her to give everything over to God. That night as she lay in bed and I was studying in the living room, I remember hearing her cry out in pain to God for relief. It was a heart-breaking cry from the bowels of Barb’s soul. She screamed out loud: “Oh God, please help me!” The tears

flow freely in my eyes again as a remember joining with her in a prayer for God to heal her hurting body. Barb died about three months after we resurrected her body in the ICU ward. I will always be grateful for the extra time that God gave me with her. When she died, I knew it was her time.

God had indeed honored the family by giving us time to share and say goodbye.

Of course there are many more details to the events I am relating to

you in this chapter. If I tried to cover all of them, each event would be worthy of its own book. This morning as I was talking with God, He gave me this simple formula for His divine healing. Take it to heart. In addition, God gave me the illustration of Jesus’ prayer, which follows.

Prayer of Faith = Belief in Healing + Trust in God’s Bigger Picture

When you go to exercise your “prayer of faith” — the two ingredients

you need are true belief that God will heal someone coupled with a trust that if God does not, it is because of His bigger picture. I mention this here, as there are different levels of faith and belief within Christianity. You must act in faith “as-if” God will deliver your loved one’s healing. Many people

do not believe in divine healing today. There are even people who do not believe in the resurrection. Unbelievable for Christians in both cases, but they do exist. Do not bring someone into the “prayer of faith” who does not believe in divine healing. If you do, they can literally “suck” the spiritual

energy out of the prayer. It is better to have people who believe totally in healing than it is to have “anyone” who doesn’t believe in healing but thinks the prayer motions are good therapy for the family.
