Myth—God Heals Everyone
I started the prayer and for about twenty minutes James and I altered praying in and out of tongues for Al’s healing. To this day I still remember God’s
awesome presence in that hospital room. All I could see in my spirit were bright lights and fireworks going off. At the end, God gave my spirit total satisfaction that healing was done. I told James it was time to go. God healed Al and in only a few hours he was up and shaving. Moving for the
first time in days. But that is not the most amazing part of the story.
Earlier that very day, Al underwent another liver test. The results this time showed his liver was in need of a transplant. It was no longer functioning.
As the doctor came into the room to give Al the bad news, he found Al sitting upright in a chair looking revived from death. Once again, a medical doctor was left befuddled.
Death Cheated Temporarily
It was a few years later that my sister Barb wound up in the ICU ward of a hospital in northern Minnesota after scheduled surgery went awry. When my brother and I got the message of her condition, she was near death. We decided to go up and lay hands on her for healing. I was terrified at the time
that my own faith would not be good enough. This time, I was so emotional and in tears over her impending death, I simply did not even know if I could pray a “prayer of faith.” I was shook. I asked James to come with his faith.
By the time we got to Barb’s ICU room, the death rattle was already on her body. Her kidneys had both stopped functioning for days and her lungs were now almost filled up with fluid. Death was imminent and there was little doubt about it. As we prayed and cried, I was not given all the input
from God that occurred during Al’s healing prayer. We went back to her home for the night having placed her firmly into God’s loving hands.
The next morning when we got back to the hospital, both kidneys had started
working again and Barb’s lungs were now clear. I was stunned. I asked the nurse when her lungs had cleared up. The attending nurse didn’t have any answers. While she was in the hospital, it was my privilege to pray with her to receive the Holy Spirit. I watched Barb recover and go home. It gave me
a chance to visit with her at length and to let her know how much I loved her and what she had meant to me in this life. We were able to share a lot.
