Myth—God Heals Everyone
my body needs. Should it be my time to go, I am more than ready. When you know your God, you also know that there is truly an appointed time for
you to die. There is no need to fear an earthly death by keeping your body artificially alive.
“And as it is appointed for men [or women] to die once, but
after this the judgment.” Hebrews 9:27
We see in Strong’S Concordance2 that the word “appointed” as used in Hebrews 9:27 comes from the Greek word apokeimai (ap-ok’-i-mahee),
which means to be reserved; fig. To await —be appointed, (be) laid up.
The word “appointed” means precisely what it says. God has an appointed a time for every one of us to die a natural death. This is the time when our spirit-soul sheds off its flesh and goes home. We are able to keep
God’s appointed time when our bodies are not subjected to artificial life support over a protracted period of time. This is man’s way of trying to cheat death, but it never works. However, it does feed bank accounts.
As I was writing last night, December 1, news of the sudden death of the 11-year old son of a friend of my family reached me. The boy was struck dead by a car while returning from the mailbox outside of his rural home only a few miles from my home. It is nothing short of a Greek tragedy
when such a young person dies.
Prayer: Father God, You see the immense pain we suffer when death strikes any family member. As You have comforted me, I
pray for Connie and her family now that You would help comfort them as in death there can be no other comfort than YOURS. Father, I also pray for the family of Terri Schiavo whose body is kept artificially alive. Guide this family to make
the right decision for this woman that she may not be trapped on this earthly plain by a love that fails to acknowledge the eternal rest that awaits for all of our souls. Surely You are in control of these matters. Surely they both fit into the gunnysack
we carry that says: “We can’t handle it Lord!” Help us!
