Myth—God Heals Everyone

“And the prayer of faith will save the sick, and the Lord will

raise him up. And if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.” James 5:14-15

“Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one

another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.” James 5:16

A Prayer Of Faith Will Save The Sick!

Your healing goal in terms of prayer should be to get into an effective and fervent prayer. This should be with one or more righteous persons whose hearts are loyal to God. Many who read the above verses would say to me that they prove God will heal us. I cannot emphasize a singular fact

enough. You simply cannot lift single verses out of the context of the entire Bible. To do so ignores God’s bigger picture and His eternal character that I discussed in chapter 11. You cannot assume that God will heal you unless you also recognize His sovereignty and that He might not heal you. Your

job is to exercise your faith to the best of your ability and then to simply put your fate into the hands of God Almighty. Having done all, stand on faith.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may

be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.” Ephesians 6:13

I have witnessed both wild success in the realm of divine healing and

also some sad disappointments. I can never really say why healing comes to some and why it doesn’t come to others, except for God’s bigger picture. I say this because I have witnessed the strength of powerful prayer in both of these outcomes. Therefore, I know that the prayer of faith was answered in

some cases and was not answered in other cases.

To my young friends at a local Charismatic church that claims God will always heal, I say: “Go check and find out how many people died in your 10,000 member church this last year and come tell me the same thing.”
