Myth—God Heals Everyone

Smoking is a contributing factor in cancer and so is any form of

alcohol. Jackie liked to have a Bacardi rum and diet-coke drink. She was a social drinker who finally stopped drinking prior to Christmas last year. Over 75% of pancreatic problems are associated with alcohol. It usually results in pancreatitis, a particularly serious illness in which the pancreas

stops functioning to some extent. Smokers also have a 2-4 times risk of developing pancreatic cancer than nonsmokers. In Jackie’s last words she writes: “Could I have caused the cancer? Maybe! But not on purpose.” Not one of us knows. Jackie led a pretty healthy and clean life overall. She was

also a very healthy eater. It could be that her pancreatic cancer could have been prevented if we had just planted her garden the year before. We had her pancreas tested early on and all its functions were within normal zones. Go figure. It can certainly all boil down to a lack of nutrients at the cellular level within Jackie’s body. I will talk about this shortly.

We can contrast our typical bad habits and the sins against the temple of our body [over eating, obesity, smoking, moderate drinking, purging, lack of exercise, etc.] with what the Apostle Paul refers to as the “works of the

flesh” in Galatians 5:19-20. Paul teaches us that those who practice the works of the flesh “will not inherit the kingdom of God.” Here is Paul’s list. One can observe that the world is filled with people who live in these works of the flesh. In fact, ministries even teach that some of these works are okay

with God. Note that the list does not reflect what we would generally think of as bad health habits. This is a list of sins leading to death.

Uncleanness Licentiousness (sexual immorality) Idolatry Sorcery Hatred Contentions Jealousies Outbursts of wrath

Selfish ambitions Dissensions Heresies Envy Murders Drunkenness Revelries Etc. (the like)

DON’T LET BAD HABITS EVOLVE INTO SIN THAT LEADS TO DEATH!
