Myth—God Heals Everyone

Philip’s Gospel clarifies the separation of our spirit-soul from our

physical body even further with the following statement about Jesus Christ.

“My God, my God, why, O Lord, have you forsaken me?” To which Philip teaches us: “It was on the cross that [Jesus] said

these words, for it was there [on the cross that] he was divided.”

Note: Philip teaches us that Christ’s spirit-soul was “divided” and separated from his body [and rose] prior to the death of his physical body. Christ’s separation of spirit-soul from his body

is an example of what we can expect at the time of our death. The resurrected body was given to Christ at a later time, just like ours will be given to us at a later [appointed] time.

It was some time in the mid 1960’s that Jackie and I were asked by her Uncle Earl to go to the hospital and help make a decision as to whether or not he should pull the life support from his wife, Jackie’s Aunt Bernice, who had been in an accident. This was in San Diego, California when I was

in the Navy. It was our first experience with life support machines and we were young adults. I can still remember the hospital room and Aunt Bernice lying in the bed with a mechanical respirator. She could not breathe for herself and she had no brain activity. Her heartbeat was strong.

I remember that I could clearly see that Bernice exhibited no essence or life force. It was because Aunt Bernice’s spirit-soul had simply left to go home. It only took a few minutes to agree to turn off the respirator that kept

her lungs working. Aunt Bernice stopped breathing a few moments after the respirator was shut down. Her heart stopped beating shortly thereafter. I knew at the time it was the right decision. Nothing has changed in forty years that would alter that decision. She, like Jackie, had simply left her

earthly body and just wasn’t there even though we could artificially keep her body going. I can imagine that just as Jackie took her last two breaths we could have attached a respirator to her body to keep it artificially breathing, but why? She wasn’t there. To keep her body parts functioning just because

we couldn’t cope with her “shedding her flesh” would have been ungodly.
