Myth—God Heals Everyone
We like to think of ourselves as an island unto ourselves. What we do
is our own business. Right? Wrong! What we do affects everyone we love. If your bad habits lead to your premature death, you deprive your children and grandchildren of precious love. It is clear in God’s Word that your body is His temple once you begin to walk in His light. God owns a part of your
flesh. It is also clear in the Word that as husband and wife we own a part of each other’s bodies. Therefore, if you are married and claim to walk with God and abuse your body with bad habits, you also abuse a body that belongs to both God and your spouse. Think habits and change habits was
good advice I heard three decades ago. The truth of that maxim still reigns.
The saying to simply “listen to what your body tells you” is also true. As we age, our bodies change. If we don’t alter calorie intake as we get into the thirties, the excess calories our bodies no longer need will be expressed
on our guts, thighs or hips. The plain truth is our bodies are in a constant state of change. Literally billions of cells die each day inside our bodies and new cells are created. If you learn what happens at the cellular level of the body each day, it will astound you. The body requires more attention as we
age. Learn to listen to what your body is trying to tell you. Learn to alter your habits to improve your own health. What is the best insurance policy you can own? It is a temple of the living God where the caretaker knows what a precious gift it is to own and learns how to properly take care of it.
My advice to you is to simply dump your bad health habits before they become a factor in your need for healing. And don’t bother praying for the healing of your lungs if you are not willing to stop smoking. Don’t
bother praying for your diseased liver if you are a chronic alcoholic who refuses to stop drinking. Don’t tell me that you can’t stop. I know for a fact that you will eventually stop. The big question is whether you will have the courage to help yourself before it is too late. Note also that you can pray for
God’s help to give you the courage to quit. God does expect you to exert some common sense over the health issues of your own body. After all, God has built into your body some amazing healing powers on a cellular level.
This is to say that you have a direct role to play in your own healing. When you accept that fact, you’ll understand God’s medical health plan.
