Myth—God Heals Everyone

Who can know our appointed time except God? When our oldest daughter Paula was 12-years old, Jackie’s cousin lost their 12-year old son in

a cruel accident. It was one of the saddest funerals I have ever attended. It didn’t take long for Jackie and I to project this onto Paula. “My God, what if that would have been Paula?” Life has a way of offering up a lot of things to think about when it comes to healing and death. Verily I say unto you

that you will never know if today is your last day. God knows the timing.

Often riches get our egos going and we think we can escape the misery of living by buying our way out of life’s troubles. Perhaps this is one

reason why people are kept artificially alive so long. They’ve got the money. When Jackie became ill, our options were limited because our funds were non-existent. We chose to trust in God and do the best with what we had available. I shudder to think of what I might have put Jackie through had I been a multimillionaire with unlimited resources. That is the main

problem with wealth. Man will trust in wealth before he trusts in God.

Jesus makes it clear that trusting in our wealth to live life or to rely upon our own resources instead of God’s doesn’t work. Here’s an example.

“But God said to him, ‘Fool! This night your soul will be required of you; then whose will those things be which you have provided?’ ” Luke 12:20

When it comes to death, no amount of money and medical technology you can muster will be able to alter God’s decision even if you can keep a body artificially alive. What we can do is choose the direction we are going.

For the young boy who just died, there is only one place you will find him. It will be in the loving hands of God who understands his short life. A few more years would have required that he make a conscious spiritual choice. His behavior in life would have demonstrated which side he chose, just like

yours does. I attended the funeral of Connie’s son yesterday. I can tell you that her son had already chose God. In his short life he touched many other lives and was loved by many; the funeral home was packed. Yet can we say that the death of this boy was at God’s appointed time? Hardly. As I will

explain further, there are other factors involved in the length of our days.
