Myth—God Heals Everyone

In fact, I was one of those Charismatic folks who would have been

insulted if you even suggested that God might not want to heal my sickness. Why, for heaven’s sake man [woman], don’t you know the word of God? Yes, I would have uttered those words. I was programmed with mythology instead of the Word. Instead, I would say: “Bring me people who will pray

knowing that it is God’s will for me to be healed.” Perhaps you are one of my Charismatic or Pentecostal brothers or sisters who currently hold to that opinion? Well, guess what? If you do hold to that opinion, it does not represent the truth of God’s Word for you and you should keep on reading.

I have altered my thinking as a result of some in depth understanding given to me by God. Today, I would have people pray for my healing if it were God’s will. I know that sometimes it is not His will for healing, as we like to think of healing, it being a longer life on earth. It might be that the

healing that God wants for us is to take us to our heavenly mansion and to give us rest from this earthly life and all its incumbent struggles. That is what God did with Jackie. In God’s bigger picture, it was her appointed time to go home. Her healing was the gift of eternal rest for her soul in a

heavenly mansion God prepared. Can you understand that such a transition and shedding of the flesh is also a blessing? If not, why? Jackie’s death was not the answer I sought from my prayers, yet it was still a great blessing to her from God. I had come to spiritual maturity and was able to condition my

prayers to God with the words: “THY will be done O Lord!”

Jesus said: “If you loved me, you would rejoice because I said, ‘I am going to the Father.’ ” John 14:28

Do you rejoice when a loved one goes to the Father? Jesus makes it clear that if you knew he was going to the Father and you really loved him, you would rejoice. Perfect peace, perfect joy and rest. We have long ago

lost the ability to rejoice when a righteous person sheds his or her flesh to go back to the Father. Yet that is exactly what we should do. I know that some family members might think I didn’t grieve enough over the loss of Jackie. However, exactly how much should I grieve when God’s Word tells

me to rejoice? The answer might surprise you and it is also in God’s Word. You’ll find instructions on grieving in the book of Sirach chapter 38.
