Myth—God Heals Everyone
Those Who Endure Life Are Counted Blessed!
“Indeed we count them blessed who endure [life]. You have heard of the perseverance of Job and seen the end intended by the Lord — that the Lord is very compassionate and merciful.” James 5:11
If you want healing in your own life or more peace, a good place to start is to lower the level of stress you are experiencing. One of the greatest joys of my life occurred during Jackie’s illness. It was watching her settle
into the loving arms of God. I watched Jackie literally transcend all the cares of this world and only look forward to the joy of her heavenly home. The transformation that took place before my eyes brought both joy and tears. The joy I felt came from watching Jackie experience the perfect peace
of God’s presence. Indeed, the whole family experienced God’s presence in our home and is a witness to Jackie’s perfect peace. The tears came from just knowing that her earthly life was nearing its end.
Just reflecting on what I witnessed grabs my throat and causes even more tears to flow. Yet I know that these are both tears of joy and tears of sadness. I spent 43 years loving this woman and in this earthly life I could never give her the peace that God brought to her during the last 98 days of
her life. Verily I say to you that at any given moment in your own earthly existence the level of peace you can experience with God will range from virtually none to virtually perfect peace. The choice will be yours to make.
Jackie had struggled to understand how to get to that area of perfect peace, but in the end God gave it to her during the last 98 days of her life. To the degree you can have high confidence in God, you can shed your earthly concerns. It comes from a heart that totally surrenders itself into
God’s hands. Jackie was like Martha in Luke 10:41. She was a servant of God, but she was always concerned about hospitality issues. Making sure everyone was fed, etc. She was the quintessential caregiver to my children, grandchildren, family and friends. However, in the end she was able to give herself completely over to our God and let Him take over all of her concerns.
