Myth—Giving 10% Is A Tithe

Christ’s Death Cancelled Tithe!

P3211— “The carnal regulations became redundant. They were

simply ‘meats and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances, imposed on them until the time of reformation’ (Heb. 9:10). Since the time of Christ’s death and resurrection, all the physical ordinances of the Old Covenant (including

tithing) were done away (II Cor. 3:6-18).” Note: All of Martin’s references are from the King James Bible.

Martin goes on to explain that Christ did not create money absorbing

church structures. These would be huge ministry business operations that are virtually black holes for money. In other words, they are money pits and some cost $100,000 or more per week just to keep the doors open and pay for the operating costs of staff, including the pilots for the private planes,

etc. When Christ sent out the seventy, he sent them without “purse, nor scrip, nor shoes” [Luke 10:3-16] and told them to eat and drink whatever they were given in the house in which they were received. Thus, Christ’s ministry operated on freewill offerings and not tithes. Furthermore, the tithe

could only be given to Levites. Christ was from the tribe of Judah and like his twelve disciples, was not entitled to receive tithes under the Law.

Paul financed his own ministry by working as a tent maker. He did this so as not to be a burden. The message from Christ and Paul were the

same: “Freely you have received, freely you should give.”

There are many ways to finance ministries. However, the tithe is not one of them. You could, if you wanted to make a donation, give 10% of

your income to the ministry. Likewise, you can give 90% of your income. That they would love. But to think for a moment you are tithing like the Law in the Old Testament required is to embrace a boldface lie. What was the second prophesy I opened this book with? It was the Word indicating

that those who did not love the truth would perish. Therefore, if you love God and His Holy Word, you will no longer accept apostate teachings like the modern day tithe doctrine of men. To do so, places you under the curse of the Law and threatens your own eternal salvation as someone lawless.
