Myth—Giving 10% Is A Tithe

Before Christ, communication with God was very complicated and

had to be done in accordance with specific rules. Failure to follow the rules could literally result in the death of a priest or even the high priest. There were rules for the priesthood and who could be a member. There were rules for the priest to follow in the temple. There were rules for the high priest to

follow in the temple. Daily, weekly, monthly and special occasion sacrifices had to be prepared according to specific rules and formulas set down in the Law. There were rules for the outer court, the inner court, the altar, etc. Get the picture? Communication with God was highly structured and not really

available to the average person. God communicated with few people in a direct way. In between the average person and God was a heavy [church] bureaucracy with many statutes [laws] and rules. There were many rules for how the Sabbath was to be observed to keep it holy.

When Christ gave his life as a sacrifice for our sins, it altered the existing hierarchal structure and established a new-direct communications model [environment], which looks like this graphic. Now it is up to you to talk directly with God. If you need help, Christ is available as a mediator.

There is no intermediary between you and God Almighty.
