Myth—Giving 10% Is A Tithe

The above list is just a sampling of the various Sabbath instructions

found in the Bible. I could write an entire book of the detailed instructions telling you how God wants you to keep the Sabbath day holy. That is how many instructions there are in the Bible. I didn’t even get into the various sacrifices and the preparation of those sacrifices for the Sabbath.

Now don’t try to tell me that you want to keep the Sabbath day holy in accordance with biblical instructions. You don’t. In fact, you cannot comply with the Sabbath commandment, because you cannot comply with

the instructions that are attached to that commandment. It’s the same with the tithe law, because Christ’s new covenant altered the Law. That doesn’t mean you can’t worship God on Sunday. More about worship shortly.

Indeed, Jesus Christ destroyed the structure of the church and there is

no longer a need to observe the ceremonies associated within the church itself or for the Sabbath day. Listen carefully here. I am not telling you to stop the worship of God on a regular basis. I am telling you that the communications model with God has changed and that the Sabbath laws

were a ceremonial aspect of the Law like the tithe law. Both the Sabbath and tithe law no longer apply under the new covenant with Christ.

Some of my friends, seeking to get close to God agonize whether the

Sabbath should be observed on Saturday or Sunday. Let me be clear here. I agree that the Sabbath in the Bible was held on a Saturday as celebrated by modern day Jews. However, the Sabbath law and its rules no longer apply.

There is no intermediary between you and God like the church and its hierarchy. Jesus Christ told us to go directly to God with our petitions, as we learned earlier. It is you direct to God. Period. Need help? Christ will be there for you as a mediator. If you can understand that the Sabbath was

part of the ceremonial aspects of the Law, you no longer need to worry about which day of the week you should worship God.

Then there is the usual proverbial question. What would Jesus do?

The answer is clear in the Bible. Jesus and his disciples did not follow the ritual laws of the Sabbath as observed by the Pharisees. Listen to the Word.
