Myth—Giving 10% Is A Tithe

As you might expect, I do have a couple of final thoughts from God on the last chapter before I proceed with our tithing discussion. If you have been the victim of a fraud by any ministry, you should know that all states have fraud laws. The statute of limitations for fraud is usually six years

from the actual date you discover the fraud and not from the date the fraud is committed. Thus state fraud laws explicitly recognize the game of the con artist is to deceive and conceal their swindle. Some people may not find out about a fraud for twenty years. When they do discover the fraud, the statute

of limitations is usually six years from that date. In the case of Solid Rock Church, the fraud that was worked on the Minnesota District Assembly of God in its settlement with Matthews may be open to litigation for six years after the Minnesota AG District finally discovers that they were hoodwinked by Matthews’ lies about corporate Article changes. Matthews had carried

his deception (fraud) into settlement talks and misled the AG District Office about the underlying factual basis of all corporate Article changes.

Ministries like Solid Rock Church in Elk River, Minnesota are often

very spiritually abusive to people. They can and will destroy entire families, wrecking marriages and scattering God’s people in all directions. I bear witness for God of such evil. If you are wondering if spiritual abuse is taking place in your own church, there is a wonderful book titled: The Subtle

Power of Spiritual Abuse, by Authors David Johnson & Jeff VanVonderen, (Bethany House Publishers, 1991)1. I highly recommend this book, as it helped me understand what was going on at Solid Rock Church. Remember, if you can reason with God, you should be able to with church leaders.

All right, hang on to your hat. This is going to be a very interesting chapter and not at all what I had originally thought, again. God gave me so

much input today on this chapter that I am myself wowed over things He has shown me. It is Saturday, January 3, 2004. If you have been programmed to “tithe” ten-percent (10%) of your gross annual income to your church, I am willing to make a substantial bet that your preacher has not taught you either

of the two citations I opened this chapter with. Why? Within both of those citations lies the truth of the tithe; neither bodes well for the apostate church.
