Christianity today is just like ancient Israel in its desire to sin. Indeed nothing has changed from Jeremiah’s days. I bear witness of that for God.

“I listened and heard,

But they do not speak aright. No man repented of his wickedness, Saying, ‘What have I done?’ Everyone turned to his own course, As the horse rushes into the battle.” Jeremiah 8:6

Self-righteousness rules today. The Episcopal bishop’s actions and Paul J. Hill’s murder are both tantamount to King David saying that God told him to send Uriah to the war front so he could get killed. Or that God

said it was okay for him to commit adultery with Bathsheba, Uriah’s wife. When confronted with his sin, King David repented unto God. It didn’t just end there. God struck and killed David’s first baby because of his adultery with Bathsheba. David’s reaction to the illness and death of his first child

with Bathsheba confused his servants so much that they asked him:

“ ‘What is this that you have done? You fasted and wept for the child while he was alive, but when the child died, you

arose and ate food.’ And he said, ‘While the child was alive, I fasted and wept; for I said, who can tell whether the Lord will be gracious to me, that the child may live? But now he is dead; why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I

shall go to him, but he shall not return to me.’ ” 2 Samuel 12:21-23

King David Saw God’s Bigger Picture!

God is sovereign over all aspects of His eternal character. This includes control over everyone’s life, including yours. The Psalmist writes:

“But I trust in You, O Lord; I say, ‘You are my God.’ My times [life] are [is] in Your hands.” Psalm 31:14-15
