I am not going to provide a complete list of God’s characteristics here because that might encompass a book twice as big. Instead, I will give you the perspective on God that He guides my spirit to write. If you want to know more about God, read and study your Bible daily for the rest of your
life. As each day goes by, God will give you a greater appreciation of whom He is. Yet, I doubt if we in this human flesh can ever fully comprehend His eternal character and nature, until we shed this earthly vessel and assume a heavenly one like Jackie has. In that regard, I am a little envious of her. Still, God has given us more than enough information to really “know” Him.
Besides God’s awesome love, you have already learned the following basic attributes and characteristics of God:
1. God does not change. 2. God does not repent. 3. God does not need a way to fail. 4. God does not pray to himself.
5. God does not worship himself. 6. God did not talk to himself on the cross. 7. God did not commit suicide on the cross. 8. God does not break promises.
9. God did not take the human form of Jesus.
Indeed, you learned that the perfect sacrifice of Jesus was that he was a human in all respects just like you and I. That with a willing heart for God
Jesus chose to go to the cross. It was God’s love for us that created this final and perfect sacrifice on the cross. It was Jesus’ love for God and us that allowed him to be a willing participant in God’s plan. Jesus knew the bigger picture and that the earthly trials we suffer must be placed into God’s larger context. That is the essence of John 3:16. If you do not fully understand
this yet, you should reread the last ten chapters.
The God I am talking about is the God that Jesus worshipped. And understanding the “oneness” that Jesus had with God is as simple as
understanding the one flesh that God gives to married couples. How does He do this? The following verse in the book of Malachi explains “oneness.”
