Chapter 13: A Light On My Path

It is clear in the Bible that the mind and heart are not the same thing;
and, both are shown in various scriptures to be separate from one another. Therefore, the mind cannot be substituted for the heart in any doctrine. To do so is to foist apostasy onto you. Bill if you are still reading, you should listen to the word of the Lord.
“Who has put wisdom in the mind? Or who has given understanding to the heart?” Job 38:36
“But, O Lord of hosts, You who judge righteously, testing
the mind and the heart.” Jeremiah 11:20
“I, the Lord, search the heart, I test the mind …” Jeremiah 17:10
“But, O Lord of hosts, You who test the righteous, and see the mind and heart.” Jeremiah 20:12
In retrospect, all my life I have felt God tug upon my soul in one way or another. Yet He could not get past my mind and into the bowels of my soul until age 32. I believe I had to exhaust all that “human” capability from within me first. Yes, the Lord looks into our souls. He sees the mind and
its intent. He sees the heart and where its loyalty lies. He tests both our mind and our heart to see if they are true to Him. For those who walk with God, He places wisdom in their mind and understanding in their heart.
When you study the mind in the Bible, you will find these kind of attributes: Being renewed; being of one mind; willing; ready; comes to; recalled by; grieved; vexed; remembered by; anxious; debased; fleshly. You will also find in Romans that the mind serves the “Law of God.” In contrast,
the flesh or body serves the “Law of Sin.” Therefore, the spirit in our whole being is the conduit for our soul’s mind back to God’s Spirit. Our spirit is literally God’s channel of influence into our soul. It is how He lets us know His mind, His heart and His voice. And we only perceive God’s inputs
when we quiet ourselves down from the noise of this world. That is why we are instructed by God to “be still and know Him” in Psalm 46:10.
