Chapter 13: A Light On My Path

“For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according
to the flesh.” 2 Cor. 10:3
Comment: The battle for our soul is a spiritual battle. It is waged between the spirit and the body [flesh]. Successful control of the soul is
demonstrated by our behavior, driven either by the spirit or the flesh.
“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.” Romans 8:1
Comment: Those in Christ have totally surrendered to God and His Son. Their lives are no longer a spiritual contest between Satan and Christ.
“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” Romans 8:5
Comment: The spirit says: “Do Not Sin!” The flesh says: “Go for it!” Those with Christ have a heavenly focus. Those with Satan are focused on this world and its systems. That includes obsession with material things and riches according to the world’s definition. They have not learned “to set
their minds on the things of the Spirit.”
“But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have
the spirit of Christ, he is not his.” Romans 8:9
“Clearly you are an epistle of Christ, ministered by us, written not with ink but by the Spirit of the living God, not
on tablets of stone but on tablets of flesh, that is, of the heart.” 2 Cor. 3:3
Paul makes it clear that those with God have His commands written
on the tablets of their heart. This transcends the mere thoughts of our mind.
