Chapter 8: Understanding God’s Word
Page 30
Job asks the question of where does wisdom come from and where is the place of understanding in verse 20 and then gives the answer in verse 28. To gain perspective on understanding God, you must understand that you are not equal to God and that you are inherently a very limited human being
without Him. Of course, a little humility will go a long way in these regards. Humankind often operates on a high ego platform and men especially have a hard time admitting that they do not know it all.
The story of Job illustrates these limitations and God’s answer to Job is very poignant in terms of the limits to our human understanding.
“But there is a spirit in man, and the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.” Job 32:8
