Chapter 8: Understanding God’s Word

When You Standup For The Word, You’ll Understand!
It is Jesus who taught us that we could have eternal life if we only obeyed the Ten Commandments. Jesus even made it simpler to understand by teaching us that if you loved God and your neighbor that you would have eternal life. When you love God with all your heart, obedience and external
love for your neighbor are no longer issues. Consider these words of Christ:
“Whoever therefore breaks one of the least of these commandments, and teaches men so, shall be called least in
the kingdom of Heaven; but whoever does and teaches them, he shall be called great in the kingdom of Heaven.” Matthew 5:19
Ask yourself this question, are pastors that break the commandments of God telling you the truth or is Jesus Christ, whom you now claim as your savior? If you stand up for your pastor and deny the words of Jesus, don’t be surprised if Jesus denies you in Heaven by saying “I never knew you.” If
you know Christ, you obey Christ. It is not enough to “know of” Christ as even demons know of him. It always comes back to obedience.
When You Obey Jesus, You’ll Understand!
Well, so what about Jesus? Did he attend a seminary? Was he also degreed? Where did he get his knowledge and understanding? Think about this Scripture in Mark for a moment until it sinks into your heart and spirit.
“And when the Sabbath had come, he began to teach in the synagogue. And many hearing him were astonished, saying, where did this man get these things? And what wisdom is this, which is given to him, that such mighty works are
performed by his hands!” Mark 6:2
The message is clear that Jesus Christ spoke with understanding and wisdom. But isn’t this Joseph the carpenter’s son? What gives?
