Myth—Everybody Gets To Go

Songwriter and singer Steve Green has captured this moment of our broken dreams in his song: “People Need The Lord.” The song transcends

the issue of broken dreams and makes it clear that we all need the Lord at a moment of death to open up a new door of hope. Do you believe? If so, do you know that you need the Lord? Maybe the question seems ridiculous. Of course, every believer knows that he or she needs the Lord, don’t they?

Well, strangely, an estimated 50% of those named a Christian do not know that they really need the Lord. What? Yes, these people think they have complied with God’s requirements by being able to mouth and simply say out loud, “Jesus is my Lord!” They are wrong.

At The End of Broken Dreams, He’s The Open Door!

Green’s lyrics 1 capture the emptiness of people passing by in life and besides non-believers, also apply to 50% of those named Christian.

Everyday they pass me by; I can see it in their eye. Empty people filled with care, headed who knows where?

On they go through private pain, living fear to fear. Laughter hides their silent cries, only Jesus hears.

People need the Lord—people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, he’s the open door.

People need the Lord—people need the Lord. When will we realize—people need the Lord?

We are called to take his light, to a world where wrong seems right. What would be too great a cost, for sharing life with one who’s lost?

Through his love our hearts can feel, all the grief they bear. They must hear the words of life, only we can share.

People need the Lord—people need the Lord. At the end of broken dreams, he’s the open door. People need the Lord—people need the Lord. When will we realize that we must give our lives? For people need the Lord.
