Chapter 6: The Heart of an Apostle
Page 30
Jesus Christ Was An Apostle of God!
“Then said Jesus to them again, ‘Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you.’ ” John 20:21 KJV
“Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly
calling, consider the apostle and High Priest of our profession, Christ Jesus.” Hebrews 3:1 KJV
The Bible makes it perfectly clear that Jesus was a messenger
[apostle] from God Almighty. When you have the heart of an apostle, you seek to understand Jesus. You do not ignore nor dismiss his words. Now, please note that it is the words of Jesus in John 20:21. Does this matter?
The respected New Strong’S Exhaustive Concordance of the Bible2 1990 Thomas Nelson Publishers defines the word “apostle” as follows:
Apostle Men divinely commissioned to represent Christ.
The American Heritage Dictionary3 defines the word “apostle” as:
Apostle 1. One of a group made up esp. of the 12 disciples
chosen by Christ to preach his gospel. 2. A missionary of the early Christian Church. 3. A leader of the first Christian mission to a country or region. 4. One of the 12 members of the Mormon
administrative council. 5. One who leads or advocates a cause or movement.
Who are those listed in the Bible as Apostles? If you have any
knowledge of the Bible, you know that there were not just twelve apostles. But, did you realize that Jesus Christ himself was an apostle of God? Do you understand the message that God gave Jesus to tell us?
